Simon schachtner
Born in 1994, Simon Schachtner is active in both solo and chamber music. Currently pursuing his Bachelor degree with the renowned cellist, Prof. Peter Horr, at Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig, he is the winner of the national competition "Jugend musiziert" and The Günther-Klinge- Kulturpreis.
A recipient of the Yehudi Menuhin "Live Music Now” Scholarship in Leipzig (2016/17) and the Deutschlandstipendium through the Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, he has performed with Orchestervereinigung Gauting, the Collegium Bratananium, the Karwendel Music Festival Chamber Orchestra, the Leipzig Symphony Orchestra and the North German Philharmonic.
As chamber music plays a major role in his musical career, Simon has been a member of the “Jugendorchester Attacca” of the Bayrischen Staatsoper (2007/8) and a member of the Bayerischen Landesjugendorchester (2010), and received mentorship from Prof. Julia Fischer, Prof. Julia Galic and Mechthild Ortschig. He has participated in masterclasses of Prof. Reinhardt Latzko, Prof. Julius Berger, Prof. Guido Schiefen, Prof. Leonid Gorokhov, Prof. Wolfgang Boettcher and Prof. Wen-Sinn Yang.
His previous teachers included Hanno Simons, Christoph Probst, Klaus Kamper and Prof. Mathias Johansen.
